Mark John Evans (UK)

Chair of the Individual Members

Mark is a UK based global citizen who works in healthcare. He has been involved in organising for social justice for over 20 years. Democracy is central to his politics and he sees no reason why it should stop at the national boarder. As a democratic socialist he also sees no reason why democracy should be limited to the political sphere. He is also very interested in sortition and citizens assemblies as a means of establishing meaningful and functional democracy in the world. It is the globalisation of democracy within a federal structure, informed by the principle of subsidiarity, that convinced him that democratic world federation constitutes the basic institutional arrangements that could allow humanity to address the existential threats that we all face whilst also laying the foundations for global justice.

I see the scope, structure and processes of democratic world federation as the necessary political architecture that, if established, would allow humanity to address the existential threats we all face whilst also laying the foundations for global justice.

My focus is on building grassroots support for democratic world federation.
