The end of war may be achieved sooner than most people think. This may seem strange to say when wars are raging in Ukraine, Gaza, Sudan, Myanmar and elsewhere, and when the threat of World War III is being mentioned. But the reasons for thinking that war could end soon are quite strong.
This is because many of the mechanisms needed to end war are already in place. These include international agreements and courts, accumulated expertise and success in conflict resolution, and in the imposition of sanctions and boycotts, coupled with increasing global recognition that war is an inhuman and extraordinarily primitive way to resolve disputes. Moreover, it seems likely that the additional mechanisms needed to end war are less than those already achieved.
