Asian Youth Center

Asian Youth Centre (AYC) was founded in 1984 as a sister organization of WAWF Asian Center (WAC) in order to strengthen the World Federalist Movement widely among youth in Asian countries. With the motto 'Think globally and act locally', AYC has been striving towards establishing just global order in partnership with like minded NGOs and also with various socially & economically vulnerable groups. According to local circumstances, each of the AYC chapters independently focuses on specific programs, such as protection of street and working children, prevention of HIV-AIDS, promotion of literacy, uplifting of rural tribal masses, environmental education, enlightenment of health awareness, emergency relief of disaster victims, and so on.

AYC has 11 chapters - Japan, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai in India and Canada for the Asian youth. AYC publishes an Annual Newsletter entitled 'Global Link', holds Executive Committee Meetings every year, and rotates General Assembly meetings every four years between the Asian chapters.

Currently AYC focus on the issues of:

Environmental Education
Global warming is the most serious problem we human beings have ever encountered. Creeping climate change is serious. We must immediately start to cut CO2 and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. AYC chapters are tackling this emergency problem at the grass-roots level.

Regional Federation in Asia
In Asia, there are two great political and socio-economical cooperative organizations: South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) which was founded in 1985 and Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) which was organized in 1967. Now their membership has reached to seventeen countries. We are convinced that these two regional organizations are the main bodies that will be developed into an Asian Union (AU) in the not too distant future. AYC is working hard for its realization.
