WFM-IGP and its two networks – the Coalition for the International Criminal Court and the International Coalition for the Responsibility to Protect, in collaboration with la Coordination Africaine des droits de l’homme pour les armées (CADHA) – The African Coordination for Human Rights Education for the Armed Forces is conducting the third training seminar on "Disseminating and Understanding the Code of Ethics and Military Conduct" on March 12-13, 2018, in Korhogo, the 4th Military Region of Côte d’Ivoire. This seminar is to bring together officers, non-commissioned officers and experts in human rights.

The main objective of the seminar is to strengthen the capacity of women and men in arms in Human Rights and the main articulations of the Code of Ethics and Military Conduct to confirm the results of "Zero cases of violation of human rights by the Armed Forces and Security ".

Opening remarks at the seminar on the 12th of March were delivered by CADHA's General Coordinator, Mr. Massoma Dosso, WFM-IGP Regional focal point – Francophone Africa, Mr. Ali Ouattara, the representative of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Colonel Diarrassouba Zoumana, commander of the fourth military region as well as the Préfet of the Region Mr. Binate Lassina.

For its part, WFM-IGP Regional focal point – Francophone Africa emphasized the need for integrating modules on international criminal justice into the training curricula of the Armed Forces and the Security Forces in Côte d’Ivoire.

The two-day workshop will include presentations of the modules on Human Rights, the Code of Ethics and Military Conduct, Sexual Violence related to Conflict, the Convention against Torture, International Criminal Justice, Humanitarian International Law and Gender-Based Violence as well as the Responsibility to Protect Norm.
